Job Description: Director of Medical Services
Hours: Part-time min of 20 hours per week/3 days in the office. Position is open until filled.
Pay schedule: $30-33 per hour. Pay rate set based on experience.
Position Summary: The Director of Medical Services provides management, nursing care, and staff development at BPRC.
Reports to: Medical Director and Executive Director
Oversees: Medical Staff and Volunteer Nurses
Job Specific Qualifications:

· Exhibits a strong commitment and dedication to the Gospel and to the sanctity of human life; affirms life and never refers or advises a woman to have an abortion.
· Has a sincere desire to reach out to at-risk women.
· Strong qualities of spiritual leadership, discipleship, and ability to encourage staff and volunteers.
· Strong interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills, organizational, and basic computer skills.
· Demonstrated decision-making, problem-solving, planning, and implementation skills.
· Demonstrated maturity, stability, confidentiality, and initiative resulting in the ability to carry out responsibilities with minimal supervision.
· Possess a bachelor’s or master’s degree in nursing or equivalent experience.
· Must possess a current Texas license in his/her medical profession and function in accordance with the Texas Board of Nursing.
· No history of documented violation of the Nursing Practice Act of the State of service or any state.
· Experience in obstetric nursing, public health nursing, nursing management, and or sonography is useful, but not required.
Physical Requirements:
· Must be able to lift and carry 10+ pounds up to waist high level.
· Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl, walk, reach, climb on a step stool or ladder, climb stairs, and be able to be sedentary or stand 50% of the time.
· Must be able to hear, see, and speak in order to communicate with clients and volunteers efficiently.
Medical Services Administration:
· Work with the Medical Director/Executive Director to create and maintain all client and medical forms, physicians’ orders, and materials.
· Assist in evaluating and implementing medical client services programs and materials.
· Maintain medical referral lists and inform staff and volunteers of new resources that may be useful to clients.
· Work with the Medical Director/Executive Director to determine adherence to all medical policies and procedures.
· Assist in developing and evaluating Medical Policy and Procedures.
· Ensure that medical equipment is properly operated and maintained.
· Conduct regular medical supply inventory and ensure that the clinic is properly stocked.
· Ensure proper disinfection of medical equipment and the exam room.
· Assures compliance with infection control guidelines.
· Collaborate regularly with the Director of Family and Community Services, staff, and volunteers.
Nursing Care:
· Ensure prayer is an integral part of each day for medical staff and volunteers.
· Organize, direct, supervise, and evaluate medical personnel.
· Oversee nursing services in the clinic.
· Provide or assist in nursing care: nursing assessment, patient education, running of pregnancy tests and ultrasounds.
· Maintain accurate records and follow-through on physician’s orders.
· Audit patient records quarterly.
· Assure accurate implementation of physician’s orders and updates physician when appropriate.
· Provides education for patients and family to develop an understanding of their health condition.
· Oversee patient follow-up per standard procedures.
· Oversee performance of pregnancy tests, STI tests, and ultrasounds.
· Ensure every sonogram is read and signed in a timely fashion by a physician qualified to read the scan.
Staff Development:
· Recruit qualified medical team volunteers to meet the needs of the clinic.
· Oversee training and orientation of the clinic’s medical staff and volunteers.
· Participate in conducting continuing education (nurse/sonographer meetings).
· Conduct medical team meetings and discussions in evaluating the clinic services, policies, and procedures.
Training and Supervision:
· Obtain ongoing education pertinent to clinical practices.
· Conduct annual evaluations of medical staff and volunteers.
· Coordinate medical staff schedules for the clinic.
· Provide in-service education to staff, as needed.
· Provide staff annual CPR review, infection control regulations, and continuing education.
· Comply with state and professional continuing education requirements.
· Maintain current BLS certification.
Administrative:
- Prepare monthly statistics for the board of directors. (Number of pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, STI tests, online nurse chats.
- Complete monthly reports as needed for medical grants.
General Responsibilities:
· Cross-train to answer phones, text messaging, email, or client contact and follow up according to procedures.
· Help maintain clean and organized workspaces.
· Assist in the ordering/purchasing of needed supplies.
· Participate in regular staff meetings.
Public Relations:
· Build relationships with the local Health Department, agencies, school nurses, and other appropriate medical facilities.
· Participate in planning and attend the fundraising events.
